Freedom is now a monthly in DC!!!

Once a month, we’re taking over the legendary Howard Theatre on T Street!  The Howard Theatre was among this country’s first pre-eminent black entertainment theaters, pre-dating the Regal and even the Apollo right here in NYC. Opened in 1910, the Howard saw the best of the best on its stage–Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald, Cab Calloway, Louie Armstrong, Billie Holiday, Nat “King” Cole, Marvin Gaye, Aretha Franklin, Otis Redding, the Supremes, Lena Horne, James Brown and SO many more. (If those names weren’t enough!) Sadly, due to neglect, it closed in the early 1980s.

In 2012, it was renovated, remodeled, and reopened for business, and today, the list of incredible music luminaries continues to grow–Chaka Khan, Miguel, ?uestlove, Bilal, Boyz II Men, Esperanza Spaulding, George Clinton, Kendrick Lamar, the Roots, Taj Mahal, Mos Def…The list goes on and on. And now it will include FREEDOM!!!
